The Garden Room
The Garden Room at Barnet Hospital - designed as a peaceful retreat for families of patients at the end of life - was funded by many generous donors and contributors, including The Late Fred Wolffing Estate, The King's Fund, Garfield Weston Foundation, All Aboard Charity, Barnet League of Friends, Marks and Spencer Southgate, Waitrose, Nandos Enfield and proceeds from the 2009 5k Fun Run/Walk.
As important as the financial contributions were the many hours of time given by volunteers to help design the Garden Room and choose the appropriate furniture and plants. Sue Barnhurst, whose mother passed away last year, said: "I'm so pleased that the feedback we gave you has been used to help support other relatives and incorporated within the creation of this important sanctuary. I wish you all the best for a successful opening of the Garden Room, hoping that it will become a place of peace and tranquillity for people experiencing turbulent times."
“Quality of care, sympathy and sensitivity demonstrated by everyone from the ward manager to the cleaners.”
