Barnet Hospital’s younger patients geared up for Jubilee and Games

Young patients in Barnet Hospital’s Treasure Island Ward have been decorating the corridor they share with the Children’s Outpatients Department in preparation for a summer that Britain will never forget.

The walls are now adorned with a display created in partnership between the Discovery Bay classroom and the playteam. The patriotic imagery combines icons of the London landscape – such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and the London Eye – with flags from around the world, and the Olympic Rings hanging from the ceiling.

Susan Horton, Play Specialist, said: “It was a lovely ongoing project to have fun and explore different ways of creating visual art, with fabrics and models as wells as paint.”

Helen Daly, Ward Teacher, said: “It’s been an opportunity for children to understand the significance of what this summer means to our country.”

“Professional, friendly, caring, calm and clean!”
