Night Hike sees Enfield’s walkers paint the town pink

Around 500 citizens of Enfield – including Mayor Cllr Kate Anolue and local politicians David Burrowes and Nick de Bois – supported local cancer care by strolling the streets of Enfield and its surrounding villages on Friday 18 May for a 15km Night Hike. With the Olympics set to showcase the latest in streamlined and aerodynamic sportswear, the Night Hikers chose to buck the trend by donning flashing pink bunny ears that proved to be a big hit with their fellow pedestrians, not to mention hundreds of horn-blaring cars. The event was organised by The Nightingale Foundation, Enfield Council and Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust, and was taking place for the second consecutive year. The total figure raised by the Night Hike won’t be known for several months to come, but both organisations are hoping for a considerable sum given the high turnout of the event. Marcia McKnight, Director of Communications, said: “It was a pleasure to be able to work again with the Nightingale Foundation and Enfield Council and I’d like to join them in thanking everyone who made it a Friday night to remember.”
“Every step of the treatment was explained. My opinion was asked and respected. I could not have received better treatment anywhere else.”
