Foundation Trust update

Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust will be working with the Royal Free Foundation Trust to explore whether a viable larger Foundation Trust can be created from bringing together the two organisations, in order to achieve patient, staff and financial benefits.

After deciding it wasn’t likely to become an FT by itself, the Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust Board invited expressions of interest back in July from NHS organisations which might be looking for a partner.  After discussing with a number of NHS bodies the process and evaluation criteria for choosing a partner, the Royal Free has emerged as the single option.

Over the next month the patient, staff and financial benefits of the option will be assessed, and a decision taken in October whether to proceed with an Outline Business Case.

Changes to management arrangements will not affect the BEH clinical strategy, which will be taking place over this period.
