Staff get red carpet treatment at annual awards bash

Staff at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals were treated to a taste of the red carpet treatment when they turned out for the Trust’s annual Outstanding Staff Celebration and Rewards (OSCaRs) on Tuesday night.

This year’s event was held in Greenfields Restaurant, Chase Farm Hospital, and featured 13 categories. With the Unsung Hero category featuring more than one winner, there were 14 award winners on the night, as well as eight ‘Highly Commended’ certificates sprinkled throughout the categories.

Award-winning comedian Patrick Monahan returned again to host the awards after his hugely popular showing in 2011, and there was no let-off in the laughs as he reeled off the winners and highly-commended with a barrage of jibes at the expense of the nominees, the nominators and the hospital’s senior staff. On hand to deliver the awards alongside Patrick were The Worshipful the Deputy Mayors of Barnet and Enfield, Madam Deputy Mayor Kate Salinger (Barnet) and Mr Deputy Mayor Chaudhury Anwar MBE (Enfield).

After presenting the last award of the night, Mr. Monahan told the crowd: “I must make a special mention to all the staff and teams that were nominated but missed out on winning an award. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Thank you all for coming this evening. It’s been a privilege to be part of this celebration.”

Trust Chairman Baroness Wall of New Barnet thanked Patrick for his hosting of the evening and also praised the judging panel -  Cllr Brian Shama (the Worshipful the Mayor of Barnet), Hilary Kates (patient representative), Fiona Bulmer (Non executive Director) and Theresa McHugh (Deputy Director of Nursing) – for their contribution to the evening, as well as the Deputy Mayors who attended. She told the crowd: “This has been a great night…and we look forward to your continued support over the next 12 months.”
