Local Cancer Charity Donates Equipment to Barnet Hospital

Last updated 5-Mar-09 12:40

On Friday 23 March 2007 representatives from the Patricia Madden Trust visited the Barnet Hospital Chemotherapy Unit to see the launch of a portable ultrasound scanner, which had been purchased with money raised by the charity.

Jane Dean, Chemotherapy Team Leader, demonstrated the use of the ultrasound scanner, which is used for chemotherapy patients who require intravenous access lines. Jane Dean said 'the ultrasound scanner will greatly improve the chemotherapy service and make the insertion of the intravenous lines a more comfortable experience for patients.'

Mike Pine, Lead Cancer Nurse, and Jane Beckett, Cancer Services Manager, thanked the Patricia Madden Trust for the kind donation of the ultrasound scanner and also for the support that the charity has given to Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals and local cancer patients over many years.

Donations to the Hospital Trust have included equipment for Head & Neck cancer surgery, Breast cancer biopsy, and furnishing counselling rooms, as well as general equipment purchases and support for individual patients.
