Trust Board endorses Red Peg Day

The Hospital Trust Board has endorsed Red Peg Day, due to take place across both hospital sites on Wednesday 25 November 2009.
Red Peg Day is a day dedicated to ensuring patient privacy, and reminding staff of the importance of leaving ward bays alone when the curtains have been drawn around the bed. Appropriate levels of privacy are an important part of patient dignity, with red plastic pegs often used to keep the curtains closed.
The Trust is aiming to ensure that all its staff members - including those that are not based on the wards - are wearing the red plastic pegs on their work clothes during work on Wednesday 25th November. The campaign is being widely promoted across the hospitals via the slogan "Don't be a Curtain Crasher".
Chief Executive Averil Dongworth described Red Peg Day as "an excellent chance to involve the 4000-strong workforce in a single act of recognition of patient rights. The day is part of an ongoing effort to protect patient dignity at our Trust, which also includes the provision of single sex wards and the implementation of new behaviour standards."
