The performance of the Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust is now one of the best trusts in North London according to the 2007/2008 annual healthcheck published today by the Healthcare Commission.
The Healthcare Commission's 2007/08 annual health check looks at quality of care, achievements against NHS targets, and financial management. The ratings range from Weak, Fair, Good or Excellent.
Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust was judged as a good performer for quality of care and fair for financial management. This result means the Trust was amongst the 32 trusts in London to improve their financial performance due to the fact that we made a £2.6million surplus for the first time in the Trust history.
Averil Dongworth, Chief Executive said: "We have had a very challenging year and that makes this news all the more of an achievement. This rating reinforces our excellent reduction in C.diff and MRSA rates,(now 77 days without a hospital aqquired MRSA bacteraemia), good results from A&E waiting times*, (in the top ten in the country between January and March this year) and other surveys and measures, demonstrating that we consistently deliver a high standard of care to patients. This level of performance is a direct result of the commitment shown by our highly professional and dedicated staff. Every individual member of hospital staff can be extremely proud of this outstanding performance.
