Three South African surgeons have spoken highly of the work of their peers in the Surgicentre at Chase Farm Hospital on a training visit arranged by Zimmer, a manufacturer of components used in knee replacements.
The surgeons - Vincent Hlophe, Sam Moodley and Doey Beekarun - are being looked after by a Trust Orthopaedic Consultant, Mr. Howard Ware, who is teaching them how to do knee replacements during their two day visit. Sam Moodley praised the "very friendly atmosphere with the staff and Mr. Ware," while Mr. Hlophe described the surgery he observed as "eye-opening". Mr. Beekarun added to their comments by praising their host. He said: "It's good to experience Mr. Ware at work, you can take home so many useful tips. His speed and technique are like pearls."
The three surgeons hail from two different private hospitals in Durban, and were accompanied on their trip by a representative from Zimmer.
“Every step of the treatment was explained. My opinion was asked and respected. I could not have received better treatment anywhere else.”
