Spurs stars bring Christmas cheer to younger patients

Six Tottenham Hotspur players visited young patients at both Barnet Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital on Tuesday 13 December to hand out presents, sign autographs and – in the case of Rafael van der Vaart – even make phone calls to their fathers!
Dutch international van der Vaart was joined at Chase Farm Hospital by his teammates Sébastien Bassong (Cameroon international) and rising star Tom Carroll. He said during his trip: “It's nice for us to come here and spend a little bit of our day with those less fortunate. I also have a little baby boy so it's really hard to see, but it gives you a good feeling to be part of this. When my little son was six months he also was in the hospital and we are worried about winning and losing football matches, tactics, but this is life and that's the most important thing, to be healthy.”
Barnet patients were visited by Togo star Emmanuel Adebayor, French international William Gallas and London’s very own Scott Parker. Adebayor said: “It’s an emotional time as it makes us realise how lucky we are. Christmas is around the corner but there are parents here just hoping that their children will be ok. It is a pleasure to come and visit and I am very happy to see the kids, to wish them a Merry Christmas and hope that they are back on their feet soon. We know that children look up to us as footballers, so it is important to put smiles on their faces.”
The Trust would like to say a huge Thank You’ to the players for making our young patients' day and wish them well for the rest of the season.
“I came out smiling.”
