Walk the Walk donate scalp coolers to Barnet Hospital

Walk the Walk, the UK's leading grant making breast cancer charity, has granted two Orbis Paxman scalp cooling machines to Barnet Hospital. The machines can help prevent or reduce hair loss in some patients undergoing certain types of chemotherapy treatment.

Saracens rugby players open new MRI scanner

The Trust officially opened its new MRI scanner in December with the help of 2 stars from the Saracens Rugby club. The rugby players, Brad Barritt, England International and Andy Saull, England ‘A' International have both been scanned at the Barnet MRI centre following injuries on the field.

Mortality rates at Trust below national average

The 2010 Dr Foster Hospital Guide was published over the weekend, and showed the Trust to have a lower than expected Hospital Standardised Mortality Ratio for 2009/10. In particular, against the standardised national average of 100, the Trust scored below this with 88.
