Midwife Led Unit - Barnet Hospital

The Midwifery Led Unit offers you a relaxed and friendly environment for the birth of your baby. All forms of pain relief are available, with the exception of an epidural.

The Midwifery Led Unit offers:

• A homely atmosphere
• 3 birthing rooms
• 3 postnatal care rooms with shower and toilet
• A lounge and kitchen area
• A portable pool is available for use of water in labour and birth
• Birth stools to help you with an upright birth, bean bags and birth balls

You are cared for by experienced midwives, with the support of midwifery assistants.

If complications occur in your labour or you require an epidural for pain relief, you will be transferred to our Consultant Led Unit. In most cases this will be the Consultant Led Unit adjacent to the Midwifery Led Unit.
