E-learning has many benefits to NHS staff, such as:

  • Flexibility – all courses can be accessed online via all computers within the Trust. Learners can refresh their knowledge when required. Also new e-learning courses can be developed quickly to respond to new business needs
  • Cost effectiveness – reducing time out of the workplace and the need for travel and general training costs are significantly reduced
  • Reporting – individual learning progress can be tracked and reported using a learning management system. Individuals can see whether they are in date with their training by using WIRED.

The introduction of WIRED and local e-learning over the last 12 months has enabled the Trust to reach a high level of compliance for statutory and mandatory training thus improving the safety of both our staff and our patients.
